Architect & engineering firms complete training in cost efficient design

On Friday evening, June 27th, UCBP celebrated a special milestone for construction in Ethiopia:
14 Ethiopian architecture and engineering companies have completed their one year involvement and training in the UCBP.

One way the UCBP is changing the construction sector is by transferring knowledge to and developing the capacity of architecture and engineering firms as they carry out the planning and design of the universities. Over the past year, professionals from GTZ and MH-Engineering guided and advised 14 Ethiopian architecture and engineering companies in applying the cost efficient design methodology and modern management systems. They were additionally introduced to latest design software and ISO 9001 fitness.

After one year of intensive team work, UCBP successfully concluded the first capacity development phase in July 2007. The combination of management trainings, technical workshops, intensive discussions amongst professionals, as well as the dedication of all the people involved in this initiative have made this first phase a successful endeavor.
