February 2009: UCBP wins “Best Stand Award”

Participating on the 5th International Construction trade fair, ETHIO-CON 2008, University Capacity Building Program (UCBP) won the best stand award for outstanding performance and for playing an essential role in the Ethiopian construction sector. The fair was organized by Construction Contractors Association of Ethiopia (CCAE) from November 29th to December 06th 2008 at Addis Ababa Exhibition Center.

Taking part in the trade fair, UCBP had the opportunity to promote its training approach for national Skill Up-graders to become experts in the construction sector. The method has been introduced to the many visitors of the UCBP booth.


One component used at the trade fair was cobblestone pavement. This type of method has been introduced by GIZ IS in Ethiopia since 2006 as part of the UCBP. The other component exhibited on the trade fair was masonry, which is currently trained on the 15 UCBP sites among other trades. Innovations such as batch box, motor slider & tool box were shown at the exhibition as well.
