Companies concluded last Capacity Development Phase

"The ISO 9001: 2000 trainings helped us in being more organized and the Cost Efficient Design (CED) trainings raised awareness among our employees regarding costs", says Ato Kebede Telila from SABA Engineering on the certificate ceremony held on 09 July 2009 at GTZ IS Headquarter, TK International Building. More than 80 people took part when certificates were awarded to the participating companies from Construction Management Consultants (CMCs) , Architects and Engineering companies for their commitment and performances of the past eight months.

Manager of EDIT PLC Ato Michiyas Argaw says, “such trainings modernize the construction sector by providing relevant technical skills. This is a good opportunity for the country to have sufficient experts in the sector. The consulting companies are now capable of using the latest technologies that enable them to win in the competitive world".

The CMCs, Architects and Engineers finalized the third Capacity Development Phase within the University Capacity Building Program (UCBP). This phase was the last Capacity Development Phase in building construction part of UCBP. The first phase started with 4 CMCs and 14 Architects and Engineers in July 2006 and ended in December 2008. The second phase was conducted from October 2007 up to November 2008 with 5 CMCs and 9 Architects and Engineers. The third phase started with 4 CMCs and 15 Architects and Engineers in November 2008 and finished in July 2009. These companies were especially trained in providing managerial and technical support to large scale construction projects, as well as receive training on contract and project managements system and latest design software and CED method starting from the beginning of the buildings to infrastructure works.
