A photographic exhibition that shows the construction of 13 new universities in 15 different locations was opened on 11th of January 2010 at 6:00 pm at GOETHE INSTITUT. The exhibition not only shows the construction of the universities but also capacity development measures areas. Overall setting of Ethiopia is also part of the exhibition.
The photographic exhibition was officially opened with a speech from Ato Demeke Makonnen, Minister of the Ministry of Education (MoE). Pointing out the long relations of Ethiopia and Germany, Ato Demeke highlighted the contribution UCBP puts for the country’s higher education development and assured that, MoE remains cooperative for the necessary support.

Mr. Helming, Director of GTZ IS Ethiopia appreciated the Ethiopian government for giving GTZ IS an opportunity to involve in a project such as this. “I am very happy to be able to share experiences with the general public in Ethiopia”, he concluded.

The same photographic exhibition was first shown in the German Architectural Museum in Frankfurt, Germany from 17th of July-6th of September 2010. The exhibition in Addis Ababa will stay open for the public up to 25th of January 2010 and will then move to German House (Kazanchis) in February 2010.
Constructing public universities on 1, 500,000 sq meters for 121,000 students is a huge endeavor. Employing more than 500 national and 100 international staff, it involves more than 600 small, medium and large Ethiopian construction companies. The program Leads around 50 of them to ISO 9001-2000 certification process. 7,500 students graduated from 60,000 students learning and living in the universities.
