Adama

Adama is one of the largest cities in Ethiopia located right above the rift valley. It is the previous capital of the oromia region found at an elevation of 1752 meter above sea level. The city is only 100km southeast of the capital. It is located on the road that connects Addis Ababa with Dire Dawa and Arsi. Adama is a busy transportation center. The Addis Ababa-Djibouti railroad runs through Adama.
Adama’s official working language is Oromiffa, but other commonly spoken languages include Amharic, Agoba, Somalae, and Guragae. Based on figures from the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, Adama has an estimated total population of 228,623.
