Adama is one of the largest cities in Ethiopia located right above the Rift Valley. It is the capital city of the Oromia region of Ethiopia. Only 99 kilometers south from the capital, it is located on the road that connects Addis Ababa with Dire Dawa and Arsi. Adama is a busy transportation center. The Addis Ababa - Djibouti railroad runs through Adama.

Adamas official working language is Oromiffa, but other commonly spoken languages include Amharic, Argoba, Somalae, and Guragae. The population size of Adama is 228.600; in the entire Oromia region, it is 27.303.994. The typical family size in and around Adama is six persons.
